Broughton Parish Council are pleased to announce the upcoming installation of a stop sign at the Broughton Crossroads, located at the junction of Garstang Road and Woodplumpton Lane.
This critical measure comes after numerous road safety concerns were raised by Broughton Parish Council and members of the local community, following several traffic collisions in the area.
The installation of the stop sign marks a significant step forward in improving safety at this busy junction. The decision to introduce the stop sign follows a detailed review by the County Council, led by Councillor Rupert Swarbrick, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport. The review highlighted restricted visibility at the crossroads and a concerning history of accidents.
In his letter, Councillor Swarbrick expressed his gratitude for the persistent engagement of the Parish Council, who played a pivotal role in advocating for these improvements. "We are deeply sorry to hear of the recent incidents, and I sincerely hope all those affected are recovering well," said Councillor Swarbrick. "The safety of our residents is our top priority, and this decision reflects our commitment to making the necessary changes to protect everyone who uses this route."
With the stop sign set to be installed Broughton Parish Council will be continuing to address the other traffic and transport concerns working with Lancashire County Council and the police in monitoring road safety at key locations like Broughton Crossroads.
