M6 Whittingham Lane Motorway Bridge Heat Straightening

15th of February, 2023

Essential repair work taking place on the bridge that carries the M6 over the B5269 Whittingham Lane.

They are  restrengthening the beams beneath the bridge which were damaged when they were struck by a vehicle.

To complete the works they will be closing the carriageway (Whittingham Lane) to traffic each night between the hours of 9pm and 5am from 6th March till 1st April (excluding weekends) with a signed diversion in place.

This work will emit noise pollution to the surrounding area, however they only envisage a few noisy nights whilst we are cutting the beams, once this phase of work is complete the noise should be minimal.

We have sent the local residents on Whittingham Lane a letter notifying them of the works and will also make every effort to reduce the amount of noise emitted through barriers and protective equipment.
