Preston City Council has written to the Parish Council to highlight a scheme that it, with 14 other Lancastrian Authorities (including Lancashire County Council), are working on together, to deliver energy efficiency measures to its residents. They have recently been successful in securing funding from the Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC) to install first time central heating into properties across Lancashire. The scheme will focus on rural properties and the systems available will be gas, LPG or oil. Both owner occupiers and private tenants can apply.

Individually Preston City has also secured a smaller pot of money from the Health Authority that will allow it to offer boiler and/or gas fire servicing FREE OF CHARGE to those 65 and over; those with children under 16 living in the property; or those with long term health issues.
